Manipur records one more death

 IMPHAL, Oct 19 - Manipur reported one more death due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, official sources said on Monday.

 The cumulative number of deaths in the state has touched 117. “In the last 24 hours, one male aged 53 years from Churachandpur expired at the District Hospital in Churachandpur,” informed an official press release on Monday. “The cumulative number of deaths is 117.”

In the past 24 hours, 285 persons from among the general population and 30 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, the release said. The new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed at 18 testing facilities in the state.

The positive cases from the general population are primarily from 13 districts, the release said.

All are locals without any significant travel history, it said, adding they are being shifted to covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added. In the past 24 hours, 172 persons were discharged from 15 covid care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free vide RT PCR test, it added. The cumulative number of positive cases is 15,778, while the number of active and recovered cases are 3,748 and 11,913 respectively, it added. The recovery rate is 75.50 percent.
