12-hour Cachar bandh tomorrow

 SILCHAR, Oct 18 The Bharatiya Janata Party, Cachar district unit has called a 12 hour bandh across Cachar district on October 20 protesting the deteriorating law and order situation and frequent incidents of molestation in the district.

 It is to be mentioned that, police had arrested Rajesh Das, the district BJP Yuva Morcha president in connection with the attack on the ambulance carrying Faizul Karim, a teacher and accused of molesting a college student in Karimganj on the night of Thursday at Karimganj and also at National Highway point. However, after a lot of argument and counter argument Rajesh was released later.

Kabindra Purakystha, former MP said that even as the bandh would hit the life of many during the festival, yet this is a wake-up call for the police and the district administration ahead of the ensuing Kali Puja and Diwali to keep a close vigil on the happenings.

Local MLA Dilip Paul said that the anti-social activities have escalated in the past three years in the district. The recent incident is intentional and planned to trap Rajesh and other BJP cadres, he added.
