DIMAPUR, Oct 15 - The second edition of the Nagaland Film Festival will be held at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima from October 31 to November 1.
“The festival will see participation of filmmakers from all the North Eastern States,” Information and Public Relations (IPR) Director Limawati Ao told reporters in Kohima today. The film festival is being organised by the Film Association of Nagaland and is sponsored by the Nagaland IPR Department.
Besides screening of films, there will be panel discussions and other activities for upcoming filmmakers, Ao said.
“We are happy that noted Bollywood film producer and director Subhash Ghai, who is will arrive at the State capital for a separate programme, is expected to attend the festival on November 1,” he said.
Ao said it would be a good opportunity for filmmakers of the region to get acquainted with him and his works since he is also a film promoter and has institutes that train filmmakers, playback singers and artistes.
The IPR Director said his department is in touch with the States which have a flourishing film industry. He hoped Nagaland would also have a film policy soon.
IPR Additional Director Tokishe Sema said the IPR department was made the nodal department for films in the State just two years back and has since been working together with the filmmakers in the State to take cinema to a higher level.
Sema said the IPR Department would make all efforts to encourage talented filmmakers in the State through workshops on filmmaking, technical aspects and other allied issues.
Yapangnaro Longkumer, the 2nd Nagaland Film Festival director who is from the Film Association of Nagaland, said 56 films would be screened at the festival, out of which 28 films are under the competition category and 28 under the non-competition category.
