Awareness meeting

 GUWAHATI, Oct 14 – An awareness meeting about the new water supply project being implemented in the city by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) was held earlier last week at West Jalukbari Primary School, Lankeshwar.

In the meeting the team members of Guwahati water supply project appealed the public for their support and cooperation and briefed them about the scheme, a press release said.

The public was informed that the project is totally owned by the State government and the Guwahati Jal Board will be the sole authority and it will function with aid and advice of the State government.

“The project officials also informed that a Customer Care Centre has been established for giving more information to the public regarding the project and for their grievance redressal. People can get any information regarding the project or can lodge their complaints by calling to the toll free number 1800-345-3615 on working days between 10am to 5 pm,” the release said.

During the meeting many residents of that area raised question about the coverage of the project, pipe laying work and the road restoration process. The project engineers and other officials clarified the queries of public.
