Gauranga Chandra Deb
DOOMDOOMA, Oct 12 - Though the security forces have launched a massive search operation, but they have failed to find any trace of the abducted head fitter of Shankar Tea Estate Gauranga Chandra Deb (55).

He was abducted by four unidentified gunmen in black commando attire from the factory of the garden situated under Talap outpost of Doomdooma PS in Tinsukia district on Friday evening.

Police suspects the involvement of ULFA (I) cadres behind this incident.

The abductors targeted the manager of the garden, but when they failed to pick up the manager, they took the head fitter of the garden who was coming out of the factory after completion of his duty hours.

On the other hand, the workers and the labourers of the garden staged a dharna in front of the manager’s office and demanded to take immediate steps to rescue their colleague.

They also demanded that the owner of the garden Sudhir Kumar Lohia should come before them and assure that the abducted fitter would be rescued soon. Today, the workers and the labourers refrained from attending their duties.

The garden authority has denied receiving any extortion note from any militant outfit. The incident has created tension in the garden as well as in the entire Tinsukia district.
