All India LIC Games gets off

Guests releasing the souvenir published on the occasion of the All India LIC Games, in the opening ceremony at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati, on Saturday.
 GUWAHATI, Oct 12 - The four-day All India LIC Games got off at the Sarusajai Sports Complex here today with a colourful opening ceremony. Around 450 players of LIC from across the country took part in the march past. MR Kumar, Chairman LIC; V Sah, Executive Director (CC); K Sahdev, Executive Director (HRD)  and DK Bhagat, Zonal Manager, Eastern Zone were present in the opening ceremony where after oath taking by the players, Chairman formally declared the Game open. Events like carrom, chess, badminton, volleyball , table tennis, athletics will be conducted in the meet which will be concluded on October 15.

LIC’s star performer Arjun Awardee Gurmeet Kaur (athletic-javelin throw), international athletes PS Primesh (800 m run), Sunil Goswami  (javelin throw ), Anju Mariam Jose (400 m run), Hemashree (100m hurdle), Jaison Xavier (gold medal winner in World Senior Badminton Championship  held in Poland this year) and Sougata Sarkar (winner of gold medal in men’s single TT in All India Public Sector Sports -2019) will be seen in this edition of the Games.

 Former world carrom champion Prakash Gaikwa, S Appoorwa (current world carrom champion  and gold medal winner in women single category in 5th World Cup Carrom Championship held in South Korea last year) will also be seen in the Game.
