Gyansabha organised at DHSK College

 DIBRUGARH, Oct 12 - A Gyansabha was organised under the Gyanjyoti scheme of the State government at DHSK College here with the participation of the students of Phillobari High School of Tinsukia district besides other local schools. A lecture on ‘Changes in Higher Education in Contemporary Times’ was delivered by the HoD of Physics, Dr Jyotiprasad Phukan, along with Professor Dr Priyadev Goswami, coordinator of IQAC and Professor of Department of Mathematics. The students who visited the college were briefed about various facilities available in the college such as science laboratories, computer laboratory, mature interpretational centres, NE photo gallery, anthropological museum, digital library, ICGC, among others. Professor Bhaskar Das explained the system of ‘smart class’ to the students.

The Gyansabha was held in Srimanta Sankaradeva Sabhakakhya of DHSK College where students of Dibrugarh Government Boys’ High School, Graham Bazaar Boys’ High School, Dibrugarh Public High School, Mancotta High School and Dibrugarh Salt Brook Academy shared their experiences from Gyansabha. The meeting was presided over by Principal Dr Sashikanta Kanta Saikia. He thanked the organisers for selecting DHSK College to host the programme and urged upon the students to give more time in gaining knowledge.

The secretary of State Academic Council and Headmaster of Mancotta High School, Nasir Sultan, was the chief guest of the event. Sultan spoke about the importance of Gyansabha and about DHSK College. The team that won laurel in the national short-film competition was also introduced to the students by the NCC team of the college. Kaylani Baruah, a teacher of Graham Bazaar Boys’ High School of Dibrugarh, also participated in the event and praised DHSK College authorities for organising such an event.
