Preparations on for tulsi plantation contest

 DERGAON, Oct 12 - Preparations are on to hold the third edition of All Assam Tulsi Planation Contest organised by leading Nature Organisation AASHRAY on the occasion of Kati Bihu on October 18 next. The top three participants will be selected through field activities on October 18 and followed by viva-voice on October 19. The winners will be given away three awards namely, Patanjali, Aryabhatta and Sushruta, which were instituted by the then Governor of Assam, PB Acharya in 2015. According to a press release issued by AASHRAY, the participants will have to plant the sapling of tulsi on their respective residence premises. The observers designated by AASHRAY will evaluate the process on the spot and after that the shortlisted participants will be called for viva-voice on October 19 at Dergaon Sports Club Bhavan.

After the viva-voice, the three award winners will be declared and they will be awarded with cash prizes and a citation in a meeting to be held in the afternoon. In the open meeting, a lecture on ‘Traditions of Kati Bihu: an analysis’ will be delivered by writer Atul Ch Mahanta.
