JORABAT, Oct 12 - Nearly 30,000 people representing 19 tribal organisations of Assam formed a human chain from Sonapur to Jagiroad today under the banner of the Coordination Committee of Tribal Organisations of Assam (CCTOA), over various demands.

The demands include inclusion of Tiwa, Rabha, Mising, Sonowal Kachari, Thengal Kachari and Deori autonomous councils in the 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India, eviction of illegal settlers from tribal belts and blocks, land rights to scheduled tribe forest dwellers as per the Forest Right Act, 2006 etc.

A CCTOA leader said that if their demands are not fulfilled they would be compelled to resort to economic blockades and other more vigorous forms of agitation.
