Durga Puja preparations almost complete at Patacharkuchi
 PATACHARKUCHI, Oct 11 - Preparations are almost complete for the celebrations of hundred years of Durga Puja here.

 The festivities will start on October 14 and conclude on October 19. The Bijoya Dasami will be celebrated with an attractive programme on the bank of the Kaldia River.

On the Bijoya Dasami day, the Kaldia riverbed will be decorated with banana plantains and rafts. The rafts will be decorated with earthen lamps and immersed along with the idols of Goddess Durga and her consorts.

A comparatively big-sized Mahisasur will be symbolically killed with crackers in an attempt to subjugate evil powers and promote good over evil.

On the puja days, arrangement for ojapali, dhulia, jatra party and naam prasanga will be made. In this regard, one celebration committee has already been formed with Hiren Sarma as president and Kushal Deka as secretary.

Burglary at Pathsala: In a sensational broad daylight burglary case at Pathsala town, miscreants looted a huge amount of cash, gold ornaments and valuable dresses from a house at Ramesh Nagar’s ward no. 3.

The incident took place between 11.30 am and 1 pm when the owner of the house Chitra Baruah went to office and his son and daughter-in-law went out for some work.

Baruah informed that the burglars looted Rs 34,000 of cash, gold ornaments, valuable dresses, one ATM card etc., by breaking the door at the backside of the house and managed to escape safely.
