MORIGAON, Oct 11 - On the day of adyashraddha of veteran journalist Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, the Morigaon District Journalists’ Association (MDJA) organised a commemorating function in the conference hall of MDJA here on Tuesday.
The programme started with the lighting of lamp by Morigaon Zila Sahitya Sabha’s former president Naba Kanta Bordoloi before the portrait of the late journalist. The open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Birinsi Kumar Sarma, president, Morigaon Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Munin Mahanta, former MLA, Morigaon, said late Bhagawati was a torchbearer of Assamese journalism and the new media generation must follow his ideals.
Addressing the gathering, Narendra Nath Keot, former Principal, Morigaon College, said the doyen of Assamese journalism and literature will be remembered by the intellectual circle of the State forever.
Keot said Bhagawati contributed a lot to the Assamese literature through the Ramdhenu magazine.
Speaking on the occasion, Mileswar Pator, former president, Morigaon Zila Sahitya Sabha, recalled some memories of late Bhagawati on the pretext of publication of some write-ups in newspapers.
