AU likely to get financial assistance from KAAC

DIPHU, Oct 11 - The Diphu campus of Assam University is likely to get financial assistance from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for developing its infrastructure. In this regard, KAAC Executive Member (Education) Jagat Sing Engti held a discussion with the university’s Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Sibasish Biswas on his recent visit to the varsity campus.

Despite being a Central university, the Diphu campus of Assam University lacks basic infrastructure and amenities like appropriate lecture theatre, medical facility, banking service, post office, laboratory and research facilities, hostel, guest house, sports facility, internal communication facilities, high-tech library, residential accommodation for the teaching faculty, etc.

“I am willing to extend all kind of help and cooperation to the university authorities so that its Diphu campus can be developed as per global standards. We have no dearth of fund and are willing to spend the same for the betterment of our children and their future. I have already issued instruction for preparing a detailed project and officially liaising with the university authorities in this regard,” Engti told this correspondent.

“We also discussed about the possibility of establishing a community college within the campus. The aim of this college will be to train the youths for skill development, particularly to meet the local demands and helping the tribal community uplift their economic and social conditions. Mr Engti has shown his keen interest in our proposal,” said Dr Biswas.
