Security tightened along Mizoram border
AIZAWL, Oct 11 - Mizoram has deployed eight additional companies of Assam Rifles along its borders with Myanmar amidst fear of entry of Rohingya refugees from the neighbouring country.

A senior official said that three companies of Assam Rifles are from Aizawl, Serchhip and Lunglei in Mizoram, while the remaining three companies were from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. He added that the troops have been deployed at the instruction of the Centre.

State Home Minister R Lalzirliana said that no Rohingya had entered the State. The official also said that there are slim chances of Rohingyas entering Mizoram. The Rakhine State in Myanmar where the Rohingyas are concentrated is too far from Mizoram and the people do not share similar culture, religion and language with the Mizos, he said.
