IMPHAL, Oct 8 - In an operation conducted near Moreh in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar on October 5, the troops of Assam Rifles claimed to have seized drugs worth Rs 28 crore, according to a press release.
“Based on specific inputs regarding the presence of contraband items in a house in Phaicham Veng Moreh, a team of Assam Rifles along with Moreh Police, conducted a search in the house and seized the contraband,” the release added.
The “contraband items” were hidden inside wooden walls and ceiling of the house, it said. The recovered items included 5,04,000 of WY tablets, crystal ice myth 15.269 Kgs, Ketamine 2.206 Kgs, Phensedyl 194 bottles and Myanmar currency. In another development, troops of Assam Rifles, recovered suspected brown sugar approximately worth about Rs 1.23 crore near Khudengthabi Check-Post.
