NEWMAI NEWS AIZAWL, Oct 8 - Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) celebrated its 80 th birth anniversary with gaiety and fanfare in various parts of the country.

In Mizoram, the grand celebration of the founding day was held at Chanmari YMA hall in Aizawl with Zoram Medical College director Fimate gracing the event as chief guest.
Hmar Inpui vice president, J Lalchhanhima was the guest of honour, while the HSA general headquarter president was the chief host and retired IPS officer LT Hrangchal was the functional president of the event organised by HSA, joint headquarters, Aizawl.
Speaking on the occasion, Fimate thanked the Hmar students for attaining 80 years.
Citing that education is the only way to attain a level on the part with others, Fimate, who is one of the most qualified and dignified doctors among “Zo communities”, encouraged the students to muster courage to face poverty and other adversaries coming their way towards achieving their goal.
The event witnessed cultural events and traditional songs from various artistes.
During the celebration, Lala Khobung, the newly appointed Mizoram Law Commission chairman along with 11 former presidents who headed the organization were honoured. Apart from them,16 students from various disciplines and departments were felicitated for their academic distinctions.
Established in 1939 at Ngurte village in present Manipur’s Churachandpur district, HSA has been working tirelessly for the welfare of the students’ community.
