Protest over rape and murder case

 HAILAKANDI, Oct 7 - The members of three organisations, All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO), All India Manila Sanskritik Sangathan (AIMSS) and All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) here on Wednesday demanded immediate arrest of the persons involved in the alleged rape and murder of one Sibani Namasudra of Karimganj district.

 A protest rally was taken out by the members of these organisations with placards and banners and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the crime.

A memorandum was also submitted by the three organisations demanding strong action against the crime against women.

Later, the protesters gathered at the railway station of Hailakandi and raised their voice against police inaction to arrest the culprits involved in the rape and murder case. The protest meeting was addressed by Soma Paul and Champa Sarkar of AIMSS, Afjal Hussain Mazumdar of AIDYO, Kanchani Sarkar and Priya Sarkar of AIDSO, among others. They expressed serious concern over the increase of crime against women in the State.

It can be mentioned here that Sibani Namasudra disappeared on September 27 from her residence in Ambarkhana village of Karimganj district. Her father Sailen Namasudra filed an FIR at Longai Police Outpost in this regard. Later, her body was recovered in the river at Fakirabazar.
