Renu Bala: Though I feel proud after winning the gold, my initial reaction is Jai Ho. These words inspire me to do better in life.

AT: What is the main factor behind winning the gold?

Renu Bala: Australian counterpart Seen Lee is experienced and is also a Commonwealth record holder in Snatch. So, I started cautiously but depending upon the situation, I mixed aggression and this put me in the golden bracket.

AT: Though you tried to break the Game’s record, why did you fizzle out in the final attempt?

Renu Bala: After snatching the gold before attempting the final attempt, I was a little bit nervous so I could not do it properly and I missed the bus.

AT: Was their any pressure before appearing in the tournament?

Renu Bala: Initially there was some pressure because I am the reigning champion and was also facing the home crowd. So, I was in some sort of pressure but due to hard work and advice from the coach and the federation I overcome it.
