|10 projects selected from Hailakandi|
HAILAKANDI, Oct 5 – Altogether 10 projects were selected for the State-level National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) from Hailakandi district. A total of 52 science models were displayed by the students of different schools during the district-level NCSC meet at the conference hall of Srikishan Sarada College here organised by the Hailakandi district committee of the Assam Science Society. Of these 29 projects were shortlisted and finally 10 projects were selected for the State-level meet.
The selected models were submitted by Rehemuna Tabassun Mazumdar of Global Public Central School, S Pritideepa of Spring Valley Central School, Purushattam Nath, Tahamina Mazumdar and Chelsia Naurem of Spring Valley Central School, Ankish Paul of St Mary’s School, Javed Ahmed Laskar of Budding Roses School, Abul Hussain Barbhuiya of Junior Science College, Nahid Anwar Barbhuiya of Royal High School and Mehnaj Parshia Barbhuiya of Netaji Subhas Academy. Besides three projects were also awarded for their good presentation and they are Ajifa Khanam Barbhuiya of Sishu Niketan, Pranatosh Nath of Pranabananda School Abu Sufian Barbhuiya of Adarsha Vidyapeeth.
The district level meet was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Samsher Singh. The president of Hailakandi district committee of Assam Science Society, Bijoy Kumar Dhar and nodal officer of Aryabhatta Vigyan Kendra, Baharul Islam Laskar were present in the inaugural function and explained the purpose of organising science model display competition among the students. DC Singh in his address, hailed the initiative of the society for organising such competitions to create interest among the students regarding science. He urged the students to participate more in such competitions. He also released a magazine published on the occasion.
It can be mentioned here that all the 10 selected models will now be presented in the State-level NCSC meet at Guwahati. The prizes to the selected models were given away by Bijoy Kumar Dhar, Dr Rupam Sen, Dr Taz Uddin Khan, Debashis Guha Thakurata and Lutfur Rahman Barbhuiya.
