Zoramthanga meets Blairís peace team

AIZAWL, Oct 5 Ė Mizoram former Chief Minister Zoramthanga held discussion in New Delhi with Dessislava Roussanova, one of the team members of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair on brokering peace in neighbouring Myanmar.

Mizo National Front (MNF), in a press statement, said that Blairís representative Roussanova and Zoramthanga on Friday discussed how to broker peace with Myanmar Government and ethnic rebel groups.

Roussanova said that a former insurgent leader himself, Zoramthanga would be the best person to take up peace initiatives in Myanmar and that the time-tested Mizo Accord was eloquent of the importance of the former CM, the statement said.

Zoramthanga and Blairís representatives agreed to work together to bring long-lasting peace in the trouble-torn Myanmar, the statement said. Ė PTI
