GUWAHATI, Oct 5 – The Guwahati Management Association (GMA) has been declared the second best Local Management Association (LMA) of the All India Management Association (AIMA), among its local associations having effective members less than 500, according to a press release issued here.

The AIMA initiated the award 25 years back. But till 2010, GMA could not win any award. Since 2011, GMA has been able to win the award for the third time in a period of four years. This has been possible due to hard work of its members under the guidance of its over 92-year-old president D N Barua, said the press release.

This year, the award was conferred on the GMA during the AIMA’s two-day National Management Convention (NMC), held on September 23 and 24 at Hotel Taj Palace New Delhi.

In the convention, besides a galaxy of management experts, CEOs of different corporate houses, four Central Ministers (Venkaiah Naidu, Ravi Shankar Prasad, VK Singh and Nitin Gadkari) two former ministers (P Chidambaram and Sachin Pilot) and the Minister of State of Pakistan Mohammad Zubir delivered lectures.

The award for the second best Local Management Association was received for the GMA by  Subha Brata Sarmah, general secretary, GMA, from Nitin Gadkari, the press release said.
