Lalganesh public resent pathetic road condition
City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, Oct 4 - The residents of Pragati Path in the Lalganesh area have expressed great resentment over the negligent approach of the authority concerned towards taking up construction of roads and other development works in the area. The condition of bylane No.1 of Pragati Path, in particular, has remained deplorable for quite some time. The road has four bylanes.

“Poor road condition and waterlogging have remained the major problems for the residents of this locality for years. The roads are full of potholes, making them unsuitable for vehicular movement. Moreover, developmental works like cleaning and reconstruction of drains have not been undertaken in the area for ages,” rued a resident, Chandrasekhar Mandal. “The road remains waterlogged almost throughout the year. The entire stretch becomes unfit for use during the monsoon season. Several complaints had been made to the PWD and the GMC to carry out road repairs and drain cleaning works, but not a single step has been taken so far. The drains are not covered with slabs as well.”

“I urge the authorities concerned to take urgent measures to repair the road,” he said adding “some of the residents have spent their own money to carry out repair works on the bylane.”
