IMPHAL, Oct 4 - Manipur Government has begun talks with the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki community in the State to resolve the ongoing agitation in the Churachandpur district.
The talk was held at the CM’s office here on Friday between Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh-led government team and an eight-member KIM representatives, sources said.
KIM demands withdrawal of the recently passed Bills in the State Assembly and placing a new bill for discussion and reconsideration with the participation of all stakeholders from hills and valley.
Churachandpur district headquarters had been witnessing widespread public protests against the issue of passing three Bills in the State Assembly on August 31. The government, however, claims the Bills will not affect the interests of the people in the hills. – Correspondent
