CPI (M) stages demo over burning issues|
GUWAHATI, Oct 1 – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Kamrup metropolitan district staged a demonstration and protest march on Monday protesting against price rise, failure of the Public Distribution System and demanding food security, land patta for the landless, solution of the flood and erosion problem of the State and of various problems plaguing Guwahati city along with the menace of flash flood.
The protesters gathered near the Judges’ Field and shouted slogans demanding a halt to the move to increase power tariff, as well as the move to privatise the potable water supply system. They also demanded 35 kg rice at the rate of Rs 2 per kg, to the needy families.
A memorandum in this regard was also submitted to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi through the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup.
Addressing the gathering, CPI (M) Kamrup secretary Tiken Das criticised the Centre and the State Government for their anti-people policies.
