Drug kingpin in police net at Golaghat
Correspondent
DERGAON, Nov 28 - A wanted drug supplier – who was allegedly the main supplier of narcotics in Golaghat district – has been apprehended by police.

Lipibrat Nath, a resident of Furkating, was nabbed at Jamuguri by a police team led by Golaghat Police Station officer-in-charge Dipak Bora.

Following a tip-off, the police team stopped an Indigo car (AS-03-H-7335) coming from Dimapur and arrested three persons – Nath, Diganta Bora and Partha Pratim Bora. Sources revealed that interrogation of the trio unearthed several facts, which shows the involvement of several persons in the drug market in the district.

Golaghat SP Pushpraj Singh said three cases are already registered against Nath at present. “We have intensified the operation against drug peddlers. As many as 60 persons have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 in the last six months.” the SP said. He also said that more than 200 drug addicted youths have been sent to de-addiction centres in the last six months.
