|Over 1,000 Arakan refugees in Mizoram|
AIZAWL, Nov 28 - Over 1,000 people from Arakan in Myanmar have taken refuge in Mizoram’s southernmost Lawngtlai district after the Myanmarese Army launched a crackdown on Arakan militants, State Government officials said here today.
The refugees from Arakan area of Myanmar fled and entered Lawngtlai district due to clashes between the Arakan rebels and the Myanmarese Army and the last wave of refugees arrived on Saturday last, the official said.
Arakan district in Myanmar is just across the border. The Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai, Arun T and superintendent of police Lalsanglura today visited the four villages in the district where the Arakan people had taken refuge. – PTI
