Speed Post shows ‘lethargy’ in parcel delivery

 GUWAHATI, Nov 28 - In a development that raises questions on the professionalism of the postal department, a parcel despatched by a customer through Speed Post on November 18 to an address in Bongaigaon, is yet to be delivered at the destination.

 The aggrieved customer, Kamal Hasan Eusuf, told The Assam Tribune that after he had inquired about the couriering process, he was finally told that the parcel could not be traced. “If this is the way Speed Post, a premium service of the Indian Post, functions, the less said about conventional postal services the better. I have also suffered loss in business and credibility before my customer for no fault of mine,” he said.

The receipt of the Speed Post courier also showed that the name and address of the designated recipient were clearly mentioned along with the pincode number. “It’s shocking why the postal authorities could not ensure its delivery even after so many days. And I have been made to run from pillar to post over the development, resulting in much harassment. I was assured that it would be delivered within two-three days,” he said.
