Mohit Sarma elected Bordoloi of Kamakhya

 GUWAHATI, Nov 27 - Mohit Sarma was elected as the Bordoloi of the Bordeuri Samaj of Kamakhya Devalaya – the body looking after the management of the shrine – in its election held today. He got 339 votes.

 Incumbent president Kabindra Prasad Sarma has been elected as the Sarudoloi of the management body with 299 votes. Out of total 465 voters, 372 voters participated in the elections held from 8 am to 3 pm in the temple premises.

Another contestant, Nagen Sarma who lost in the fray got 102 votes.

The electoral college comprises Bordeori Samaj members, who have two votes each.

The election was held under the supervision of the district administration, where Kamrup (Metro) ADC Pulak Mahanta was the returning officer. The counting of votes had started from 4 pm.
