Baska Raas fest at Debachara from tomorrow

 BARAMA, Nov 26 – Brisk preparations are on at Baska to celebrate Raas festival at Debachara-Thanguri from November 28 to December 2 next under the aegis of the Raas Mahotsav Celebration Committee. The Baska Anchalik Raas Festival will be celebrated in a befitting manner to pay obeisance to Lord Krishna and his manifold and meaningful incarnations.A celebration committee with Chanakya Bhatta as president and Madhav Rava as general secretary was formed with the inclusion of other office bearers and members for smooth management of the Raas Utsav.

The Raas Mahotsav was the outcome of progressive thought of some dedicated social activists of greater Baksa area and the celebration of Raas festival has reached the present stage crossing many hurdles during the last 64 years.

The programmes of Raas festival include cultural procession, opening of main gate of Raas festival, flag-hosting, open meeting, religious discussion, cinema show, Ojapali, dhulia, theatre show, etc.

A large number of idols displaying different stalls were decorated to attract the visitors.

Prafulla Boro, the veteran social worker, will open the Raas Mahotsav festival at 5 am on November 28 on the Raas Utsav premises.

Maneswar Brahma, MLA of the Barama constituency, Banamali Baro, the executive member of BTC, Ramesh Ch Das, the chairman of Sarania Kachari Development Council, will grace the occasion in the open meeting.

The meeting will be presided over by Chanakya Bhatta, president of the celebration committee.
