DIBRUGARH, Nov 25 - A day-long agricultural workshop on, ‘Conservation of Petroleum Products in Agriculture’ sponsored by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India was organised at Lengrai, Tinkurhia under Tengakhat Development Block by the local Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK).
Shantanu Paul, Farm Manager of KVK, Dibrugarh, who was the key resource person explained to the participants about preventing fuel loss while using tractors, power tillers, pump sets etc., in order to ensure enhanced fuel use efficiency in agriculture through his presentation.
Hemchandra Saikia, Subject Matter Specialist (Agriculture Economics) and Course Director of the programme, said that it was high time for the farmers to take all possible effective steps to conserve energy, prevent loss of fuel without rhyme or reason for a better and sustainable future.
He also emphasised that in order to improve the efficiency of agricultural productivity and profitability, wastage of fuel in the use of agricultural machinery, pumps, power tillers and tractors should be stopped at any cost.
Further, he urged the farmers to use machineries and vehicles in agriculture according to the instructions of the company and experts working in the said field. The workshop was attended by some 35 progressive farmers from the adjoining areas, a release stated.
