NILAMBAZAR, Nov 25 - Industrialist Ragib Ali of Sylhet, Bangladesh was pushed back by the Karimganj Police through Sutharkandi land customs border on November 24. He was arrested by the Bangladesh Police there in connection with a serious criminal case of grabbing of Hindu property by forging documents.

According to official sources, Ragib Ali, an industrialist and other members of his family are the most wanted accused persons for Bangladesh Police. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sylhet had issued an arrest warrant against Ragib Ali and his son on August 11. After the said warrant was issued, Ragib Ali entered India through a valid visa and he stayed here to evade arrest in Bangladesh. He extended his visa twice by producing medical documents, first for 30 days and then for 40 days. He was also under treatment at the Silchar Medical College Hospital and then NEIGRIHMS Shillong. When Ragib Ali prayed for the extension of his visa for the third time, the Karimganj Police opposed it.

Pradip Ranjan Kar, Superintendent of Police, Karimganj informed mediapersons that the police traced the industrialist from Karimganj town and informed the same to Bangladesh Embassy. Senior officials of the Bangladesh Embassy and police received him from Sutarkandi land border and arrested him after he crossed the border on Thursday.

The Bangladesh court had framed charges against Ragib Ali and his son in connection with a case over forging of land ministry documents to grab the temporality of Tarapur Tea Eastate which was donated by a Hindu family in 1915 in favour of the Radha Krishna temple.
