GUWAHATI, Nov 25 - Riding on a solitary second half goal by Parash Moni Saikia, Bokakhat emerged champions in the 39th edition of the Sub Junior Inter District Football Championship.
SD Maheshwari, GM (Finance), NRL handing over the Satindra Mohan Dev Trophy to the victorious Bokakhat team at NRL Township in Numaligarh, on Friday.
In the high voltage summit clash at the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) Township playground last evening under lights, host Bokakhat edged past Silchar 1-0 and lifted the Satindra Mohan Dev Trophy.
After a dry first session Parash Moni fired the match winning goal in the 73rd minute.
Gautam Das, Bishal Robi and Himangshu Das of the winning team were adjudged best player of final, player of the final and best goalkeeper respectively. Animesh Guha of Silchar walked away with the highest scorer’s trophy. The Golaghat team was handed over the fair play trophy.
The Bokakhat team was comprising of player of the NRL Football Academy which was set up by the NRL in the year 2012 under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Coached by a Spanish A-licensed UEFA coach, the players of the Bokakhat team enthralled the crowd with amazing skills.
NRL officials SR Medhi, Director (Technical), SK Barua, Director (Finance), AK Bhattacharya, Senior General Manager (HR), SD Maheshwari, General Manager (Finance), Samiran Chakraborty, General Manager (Maintenance), Debashish Choudhury, General Manager (C&L) and Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, General Manager (Operation) were present on the occasion as guests and gave away the prizes. The championship was organised by the Bokakhat District Sports Association in co-operation with NRL, stated a release.
