|Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana launched at Nalbari|
NALBARI, Nov 24 - The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban area) scheme was formally launched at Nalbari town in an inaugural function held at Nalbari Natya Mandir on Thursday. The Member of Parliament of Mangaldai Lok Sabha constituency Ramen Deka inaugurated the scheme by lighting an earthen lamp.
The programme organised by Nalbari Municipality Board was attended by Ashok Kumar Sarma, MLA of Nalbari LAC, Nadira Jesmine, district development commissioner, among others.
Addressing the meeting, Deka said that the Prime Minister has taken steps to ensure a home for every household of the nation. The Union Government has allocated Rs 5 lakh crore for this purposes. If this budget is increased to Rs 15 lakh crore, all the needy households will be covered. He called upon the people to engage themselves in productive works.
It may be mentioned here that a total of 574 families of Nalbari town have been selected for the houses under this Yojana.
