|Two drug traffickers sentenced to 12 yrs in jail|
GUWAHATI, Nov 24 - The Court of Additional Sessions Judge No. 1, Kamrup (Metro), today convicted Chandra Pal and Shiv Kumar Verma under Sections 21(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and sentenced them to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The two accused from Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh were arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials from the Guwahati Railway Station on July 29, 2014 and 3.54 kg of heroin were seized from their possession.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each of them.
Special public prosecutor Ritu Raj Baishya argued the case for NCB.
