GUWAHATI, Nov 24 – To cater to the extra rush of passengers during the winter vacations, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced five weekly special trains from Assam to different parts of the country during December-January.
“Bookings for the trains are now open and we request passengers to avail the facility,” NFR PRO Nripen Bhattacharya said today.
The weekly special trains are 02502/02501 Guwahati-Howrah-Guwahati, 02235/02236 Guwahati-New Delhi-Guwahati, 05903/05904 Dibrugarh-Chandigarh-Dibrugarh, 02508/02507 Kamakhya-Chennai Central-Kamakhya and 02552/02551 Kamakhya-Yesvantpur (Bangalore)-Kamakhya, he added.
The 02502 will run from Guwahati to Howrah at 9.40 pm every Saturday between December 7 and January 25, while the 02501 will depart at 2.15 pm every Sunday from Howrah to Guwahati between December 8 and January 26. The train will stop at Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town and Bolpur, among other stations.
Meanwhile, the 02235 will leave from Guwahati for New Delhi at 5.55 am every Wednesday between December 4 and January 29. The 02236 will depart from New Delhi to Guwahati every Friday at 9.30 am between December 6 and January 31.
En route, the train will halt at New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni, Chhapra, Varanasi, Lucknow and Moradabad.
Among other special trains, the 05903 will depart at 8.40 am every Friday from Dibrugarh for Chandigarh between December 6 and January 31, while the 05904 will leave Chandigarh at 11.15 pm on every Sunday between December 8 and February 2.
It will stop at New Tinsukia, Dimapur, Lumding, Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Muzzaffarpur and Lucknow, among other stations.
The 02508 will depart from Kamakhya for Chennai Central every Monday at 2 pm from December 2 to January 27. The 02507 will start from Chennai Central to Kamakhya at 11 am every Thursday between December 5 and January 30.
The train will stop at New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Rampurhat, Asansol, Khurda Road, Visakhapatnam and Vijaywada. In addition, the 02552 from Kamakhya to Yesvantpur will leave at 2 pm every Wednesday between December 4 and January 29, while the 02551 will depart from Yesvantpur every Saturday at 8.30 am between December 7 and February 1.
In addition to other stations, the train will stop at Rangiya, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Asansol, Bhubaneswar, Vizianagaram, Vijaywada Junction and Chennai Central. Besides the five long-distance trains, NFR has also announced a Dibrugarh-Rangiya-Dibrugarh special train which will operate between December 2 and February 28.
The 05968 will leave from Dibrugarh at 5 am every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while the 05967 will depart from Rangiya at 5.45 am every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during the three-month period.
The train will stop at New Tinsukia, Simaluguri, Mariani, Furkating, Dimapur, Diphu, Lumding, Chaparmukh, Guwahati and Kamakhya.
