JORHAT, Nov 24 – The 245th edition of the Na Laguwa Utsav at Borbheti here has started with the lighting of 245 earthen lamps in the twilight hours today. The newly-constructed building of the museum-cum-office of the Borbheti Unnayan Aru Sanrakshyan Samiti was also inaugurated today.

The souvenir, Astabhuj, was also released by Bhaktananda Deva Goswami, Satradhikar, Mayamora Chabua Modarkhat Satra about 6 pm here. A website containing all the relevant information about the Borbheti is going to be launched in the function.

The organisers of the Na Laguwa Utsav said that the ‘Gayan Bayan’ competition with the playing of the traditional mridong will also be conducted in connection with the function slated for tomorrow.

People from far and wide arrive at Borbheti to offer prayers during the Na-Laguwa Utsav.

Organisers are expecting that the presence of devotees tomorrow will outnumber that witnessed in the earlier years. About 200 volunteers and police personnel will be deployed to maintain order during the main function tomorrow. A medical unit will be on standby to provide first aid to visitors tomorrow.
