2-day Lachit Divas gets under way at Tinsukia

 TINSUKIA, Nov 23 – The two-day Lachit Divas organised by the Sadou Asom Hindu Yuba Parishad (SAHYP) with the cooperation of its Tinsukia district committee began today at the Chaliha Nagar field here.

 On the occasion, the ceremonial insigne was hoisted by the president of the celebration committee, Manoj Bora and president of SAHYP, Kailash Mahato. The lighting of earthen lamps and smriti tarpan was initiated by Dipankar Choudhury, general secretary of SAHYP. Bharatmata Pujan was subsequently initiated by Surya Bhattacharyya, secretary of the Tinsukia unit of SAHYP.

The other programmes included release of the souvenir titled Mahabir Lachit by Kailash Mahato, while a sizeable cultural rally was participated in by troupes from various ethnic groups.

The programme was attended by Doomdooma MLA Dilip Moran and many other dignitaries. Tomorrow’s programmes include sraddhanjali to Bir Lachit and open session, besides other programmes like art competition, etc.
