Call to implement women empowerment scheme

ITANAGAR, Nov 23 – Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) Executive Director SK Jha has called for effective implementation of the Integrated Scheme for Women Empowerment (ISWE) in the Northeastern States.

“The ISWE launched in 2007 as a pilot project is a special package for the NE to address the socio-economic needs of the region focusing on empowerment of women and development of children through community intervention,” he said.

He was inaugurating SANKALP-2, a two-day orientation training programme here on Wednesday, official sources said.

Aimed to streamline the ISWE project implementation in the region, the training programme, organised by the Arunachal Pradesh State Social Welfare Board (APSSWB) with the support of the CSWB, is being attended by stakeholders such as chairpersons and secretaries of the State Social Welfare Boards of NE States, mother NGOs, CBGs (community-based groups), project coordinators and field officers of State boards.
