GUWAHATI, Nov 23 – A total of 101 traditional magic practitioners of Mayong would be participating in the ensuing Mayong Pobitora Festival 2011 that promises a platter myriad forms of entertainment for every citizen.
The three-day fiesta scheduled from November 25 at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary will bring alive not only the local culture and traditions, but also provide a memorable experience of wildlife and sports.
The programme will begin with flag hoisting, to be followed by a cultural procession, and opening of live exhibition by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
From day one itself, visitors will get the flavour and taste of ethnic food of the State and will be introduced to the local art, craft and style. Both the Self Help Group exhibition and the ethnic food festival will begin on this day. In the evening, visitors will be entertained to a drama and magic show.
On the second day of the three-day festival, a plantation drive will be followed by a Kayaking event, inter institution quiz and drawing competition and a workshop. A cultural programme will be held in the evening.
On the final day of the extravaganza, folk games will be the highlight apart from other sports competition. The curtains will come down with a programme by Songs and Drama Division and by many noted artistes.
Wildlife lovers can get ready for unforgettable memories as many programmes like elephant safari, jeep safari, boating, trekking etc have been lined up.
For those looking for traditional attractions, there would be spot therapy by the traditional magic practitioners of Mayong, and exhibition of the historical remains of the ancient Mayong kingdom.
