‘Rank Outsiders’ clinch Brain Jam 2014 title

 GUWAHATI, Nov 22 – Ace quiz master Barry O’Brien enthralled the quiz lovers of Guwahati through his witty presentation and carefully selected bouquet of questions on India in the ninth edition of the popular annual quizzing event Brain Jam held today at the Pragjyoti ITA, Machkhowa.

Team Rank Outsiders represented by Mridul Kalita and Amritjyoti Sharma won the Brain Jam 2014 this time while team Mnemonics represented by Abhra Das and Shoubhik Bhattacharjee were the runners up.

Organised by Priya Communication and The Assam Tribune, the theme of this year’s event was ‘Aapne Desh Ko Jano’ (Know your country), where all the questions in preliminary and main rounds were based on India.

“It was an attempt to help people know our country better as we know many things about different parts of the globe, while we are yet to know much about our country, which is full of uniqueness and diversities,” said Anoop Khanna, organiser of the event. A total of 225 teams participated in the quiz, of which, six teams were selected for the finals.

The winning team walked away with a trip to Goa and two laptops besides a number of other gifts, whereas the runners up got a trip to Himachal Pradesh besides other gifts.

A popular quizzing event of the the Northeast, Brain Jam has been a platform for the quiz buffs of the entire region and the event has witnessed an increase in the number of participants over the years. Quiz master and educationist Barry O’Brien’s interaction with the audience and several rounds of the quiz dedicated to the quiz lovers sitting in the audience made the event livelier.
