Dimasa bodies threaten stir over perennial neglect by Railways
HAFLONG, Nov 21 - Reminding the Union Railway Minister for immediate redressal of public grievances and change its attitude of perennial neglect towards the North East, members of the All Dimasa Students’ Union, Maibang Zonal Committee in collaboration with Dimasa Womens’ Association, Dishru Cultural Club, Dimasa Students’ Union and Dima Hasao District Committee staged dharna at the NF Railway overbridge at Maibang today.

Later, they routed a memorandum to the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goel through the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Maibang.

While reiterating their demands since March 14, 2015, which they had submitted in the form of a memorandum to the then Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, the agitating organisations expressed anguish over the fact that the Railway authorities chose to sleep over their grievances, lest solve them.

Following the above state of affairs, the organisations concerned stated that the general masses today had totally lost faith on the Union Railway Ministry and therefore held them responsible for the loss of several human lives at Maibang Railway Station over the years due to plying of trains.

In the backdrop of the above, the agitating organisations offered an ultimatum stating that if the Railway authorities fail to address their problems within December 10 next, they would launch a vigorous democratic agitation throughout the district for which the Railway authority would be singularly held responsible for any consequences.
