Former Minister Sahidul Choudhury dead

 GUWAHATI, Nov 20 – Senior AGP leader Sahidul Alam Choudhury, MLA and a former Minister breathed his last early this morning at Indraprastha Appolo Hospital, Delhi. He was 65.

Choudhury was the Minister of Municipal Administration Department and Public Health Engineering from 1985 to 1990. Then he became the Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development in 1996 in the AGP-led coalition government.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has condoled the demise of the senior AGP leader and in a message, expressed his grief and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family members.

The AGP held a condolence meet here and decided to observe five-day mourning. All units of the party will fly the party flag half mast as a mark of honour to the departed soul. All party activities will be on hold during the mourning period.

The AGP is sending a three-member team comprising its working president Atul Bora (J), Legislature Party leader Phani Bhusan Choudhury and former Minister Nurul Hussain to attend the last rites of Choudhury.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh and the All India United Democratic Front has condoled the death of Choudhury.
