STAFF REPORTER
GUWAHATI, Nov 20 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today expressed the hope that a student from Assam would one day be able to go to space following the footsteps of Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams.

Formally inaugurating the ‘Deba Kumar Bora memorial NASA Trip’, under which the State government is sending six students to the NASA for an exposure, the Chief Minister said, “Today is a red letter day in the education sector of Assam”.

He said that the trip will give the students the exposure to face the competitive world. “We have to keep pace with the change of time and this is an effort of the State government to give exposure to the students,” he added.

The Chief Minister also handed over tickets to the United States of America to six students – Gyandeep Sarma, Bhaswati Deka, Stuti Khound, Shahinur Rahman, Parijat Priyadarshini and Priyanka Borbora in the function held at the NEDFi House this morning.
