Chhath Puja celebrations

 GUWAHATI, Nov 19 – Thousands of devotees today offered prayers to the Sun God on the bank of Brahmaputra and other water bodies in the State on the occasion of Chhath Puja. The ritual of paying obeisance to the setting and rising sun would be complete after offering prayers tomorrow morning. The festival is celebrated mainly by the people of Bihar, Jharkhand and Utter Pradesh origin, which is getting popular among the devotees of other communities also.

In Guwahati, the puja is observed at more than a dozen of places on riverbanks including Noonmati Sector I, Sunsali, Pandu, Lalmati, Basistha, Sukleswar ghat, Ferry ghat, Meen Bhawan ghat, Birubari and Jyotikuchi.
