Assam 161/4 in reply to Kerala’s 264
Sports reporter
GUWAHATI, Nov 18 – Assam skipper Dheeraj Jadhav is fighting with an unbeaten 76 and Tarjinder Singh is giving him company with 55, to cross Kerala’s first innings total of 264 in their Group C Ranji Trophy match at Malappuram today.

On the second day, resuming at 211 for five, the host team could add just 53 runs to their overnight total. Arlen Konwar was in fine form today and completed his five-wicket haul. Abu Nechim Ahmed, Arup Das and Syed Mohammad took one wicket each.

Overnight unbeaten batsmen RM Fernandez and AG Kodoth were out immediately after resuming the innings in the morning and other remaining batsmen followed them in quick succession.

Assam were in trouble losing four wickets at the total of 56. But some determined batting by Dheeraj and Tarjinder put Assam in a healthy position as the fifth wicket partnership added valuable 105 runs.
