Houses gutted in Tezpur
Correspondent
TEZPUR, Nov 16 – A devastating fire gutted 10 houses in Garowanpatti locality here last night. The loss caused by the fire is estimated to be Rs 80 lakh. The patients of a nearby private nursing home had to be evacuated for safety.

Meanwhile, several areas like Dhanoanagar, Garowanpatti and parts of Ward No.5 of Tezpur were submerged following morning showers.

The worst affected area in this ward is in front of the Kedarmal Hospital, where 25 families had to take shelter on the street.

The traffic on MC road was diverted as the affected people took shelter on it. Water entered the premises of all houses in the locality.

Local residents alleged that unplanned construction of a drain and buildings in the locality is the reason behind the flood.
