NEW DELHI, Nov 16 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today renewed his appeal for conferring the Bharat Ratna on Dr Bhupen Hazarika to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

In a half-an-hour meeting with the Prime Minister, Gogoi moved him for the construction of two new bridges over the Brahmaputra river, one connecting Majuli with Disangmukh and the other linking Dhubri to Phulbari.

It may be mentioned that the State Government over the years have been pleading with the Central Government to construct a number of bridges over the river Brahmaputra to improve connectivity in the region.
