GUWAHATI, Nov 16 - Pro-talks ULFA leaders Mrinal Hazarika and Jiten Dutta who were arrested recently for making highly objectionable and inflammatory comments, were today granted bail by the Court.
The Court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class), Kamrup (Metro) Sarfaraz Nawaz after perusing case diaries of both the cases observed that custodial detention of both the accused is not required as not much investigation was carried out subsequent to their arrest.
After hearing defence lawyers Bijon Mahajan and Arshad Choudhury and the prosecution, the Court allowed them to go on bail on execution of a bail bond of Rs 20,000 each with a surety of a like amount on condition that they shall not threaten the first informant or any witness of the case.
Hazarika and Dutta were arrested on November 2 and November 3 respectively in connection with two separate cases registered with Geetanagar police station.
The Court also directed that the accused shall not make any speech in future which may cause communal disharmony in the State and have to appear before the investigating officer once in a week for the next three months.
