AALO, Nov 15 – The Darak circle of West Siang district wore a festive look as intellectuals scattered across the State, alumni of Darak Secondary School and nearby villagers had a nostalgic congregation to celebrate the golden jubilee of the school on Wednesday. This was stated in a press release.
The school, which emerged on self help basis prior to Chinese aggression with Minto Kato as its first teacher with a monthly pay of Rs 60, started as a primary school in the year 1962 but now it is a Secondary school.
Greeting the people on the auspicious occasion, chief guest, former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin said that vistas of avenues for the people have been opened up during his two tenure prioritizing educational and communication system. The emphasis now is laid on infrastructural development in various parts of the constituency, he said. The government has done enough for the people, there is no scarcity of avenues but scarcity lies in our sheer determination and will to excel in different parameters to take our society in the right direction, he rued.
Guest of honour Col GS Chundawat, Commanding Officer, 19th Grenadiers, said that the younger generations with better avenues today should strive hard to be successful in life. The Army is trying to set up its base in the area and our presence in the area will be of benefit.
