Bhupenda remembered in New Delhi

 GUWAHATI, Nov 14 - The death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was observed in the national capital in a solemn function organised by the Assam Association, Delhi at Sreemanta Sankardev Bhawan, a press release stated.

 The president of the Assam Association, MP Bezboruah presided over the function. Led by the association president, all those present on the occasion paid respectful homage to the great artist by offering flowers at his portrait. Thereafter, Chida Das presented Bhupenda’s popular song Nami Aha Sundarore Sena Silpi Dal.

Addressing the gathering Bezoruah spoke about Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s rare personality, his creative genius and his intense love for his motherland Assam. Dr Nilmani Sarma, Dr BM Hazarika, TP Khaud and Col Jiten Hazarika, while paying homage to the Sudhakantha highlighted the rare qualities of this great son of Assam.

Bhupendra Sangeet by Rabin Kalita, Rabin Gogoi, Dr Bipul Baruah and Reena Pathak was a special attraction of the evening. Dr Malaya Khaund, vice-president of the association, who gave a vote of thanks, respectfully remembered her association with Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The programme concluded with Bhupenda’s famous song Manuhe Mauhar Babey sung by all present.
