|Temporary rehabilitation for blaze-affected|
GUWAHATI, Nov 14 - The business establishments which were razed during the Diwali night fire at Fancy Bazarís New Market and nearby areas, will be temporarily rehabilitated in pre-fabricated structures so that the livelihood of the affected people is not affected.
This decision was taken at a meeting organised at the Circuit House here today by the Kamrup Metro district administration. The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Kamrup Metro Additional DC RP Barua, was attended by senior officials of the district administration, City Police, representatives from the Kamrup Chamber of Commerce and shop owners and their families who lost their properties during the fire.
A list was prepared of the businesses which have suffered losses in the fire, including shops which were totally gutted.
The administration said that 61 shops and five residential buildings were gutted in the blaze, which had continued for more than 24 hours.
It was decided that the shop owners will submit applications to the Guwahati Revenue Circle, providing details regarding their shops and the areas occupied by them before the fire, which will be verified by civic staff. Pre-fabricated structures will be erected on a temporary basis so that the affected businessmen are able to continue with their trade.
The administration directed the shop owners to maintain proper fire safety standards from now on.
